- How to earn it:
- If you know a current SLFCU member, both you AND they could get $50 when you join and meet all offer requirements. They’ll need to provide you with a referral code before you apply. Tell them about the Refer a Friend Program for more information.
- Apply for SLFCU membership online or at a branch. If you have a referral code, add it to your online application where indicated, or give it to the SLFCU representative with whom you are meeting. You must be age 18 or over, open your membership with a minimum deposit of $1, open a Quick Cash or Money Manager Checking account, and establish recurring ACH direct deposits of at least $100. These requirements must be met within the first 60 days of establishing membership.
- Within 40 days of all requirements being met, we’ll add $150 to your SLFCU savings account – plus the additional $50 if you were referred. And your referring friend will get their $50, too!

- SLFCU members age 13-17 are invited to submit an article on a financial topic to be considered for publication in our Dollars & Sense newsletter and on our website.
- SLFCU will award teens $100 for published articles.
- Submissions should be 350 words maximum (not including title) and can relate to any financial topic.
- Topics may include, but are not limited to: teen business and money making ideas; how to fundraise for a charity or project; lessons learned from a first job, etc. To view more topic options, click on the following “submit an article” button.
- The article must be the teen’s original work.
- SLFCU will respond within 30 days. We may request edits or clarification prior to publication if the teen’s article is selected.
- Payment may be deposited to the teen’s SLFCU account, or a check can be mailed.
