Trip Cancellation Insurance
Planning a trip can be a hassle, and something unexpected always occurs. Now, with the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, you can be reimbursed for your pre-paid, nonrefundable travel expenses (like plane tickets, hotels and tours) up to $10,000 per trip. Now, if something unexpected like sickness or weather occurs, you can be covered up to $10,000 per trip. All you have to do is pay with your Sapphire Preferred Card to be eligible for this insurance! This is a great way to travel, because you’ll have the peace of mind that if something unexpected happens on it, you can take care of it – cost free.
Baggage Delay Insurance
One of the most annoying things that could happen on a trip is that your bags disappear. Imagine wanting to change out of your stale airport clothes, or wanting to grab some toiletries, and then finding out your checked baggage has been delayed. Well with the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, you can be reimbursed $100 per day for up to 5 days for essential purchases like toiletries and clothing.
Additionally, you could be eligible to get up to $3,000 in lost luggage coverage, but to get this you’d have to produce almost all of your original receipts for what was in the the luggage, which would make it very difficult to get the full value.
Trip Delay Reimbursement
Have you ever been on the last flight of the day to your destination only to have it canceled? If it’s due to weather or any other cause that allows the carrier to deflect blame, you might get a preferred rate from the local airport motel or be out of luck altogether, but either way you’ll likely be forced to pay out of pocket.
If your common carrier travel is delayed more than 12 hours or requires an overnight stay, Chase Sapphire Preferred covers you and your family for up to $500 per ticket of non-reimbursed expenses such as meals and lodging.
Purchase Protection
To add to your peace of mind, the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, also offers to cover any eligible personal property purchased using your Sapphire Preferred card in the event of theft, damage or involuntary and accidental parting with property. Essentially, if something happens to an item within 120 days of purchase, it will be repaired or replaced for a value of up to $500.
Granted, there is a list of items that are excluded from this perk such as animals, antiques, etc, but it’s definitely better than not having purchase protection at all.
Extended Warranty Protection
This perk goes beyond the realm of travel; with this benefit you can get an additional additional year of coverage on eligible purchases with a manufacturer’s warranty of three years of less. Unfortunately, there are certain products that are ineligible such as boats, automobiles, aircraft, medical equipment, etc.
For example, if you bought a laptop with a warranty of two years and it suddenly stops working after the warranty expires, you can call Chase and ask for credit. You’ll need to produce a copy of the original purchase receipt, and some other documents of proof. After you complete their requirements, you should receive credit for your initial purchase as well as any additional costs you incurred in the process of getting it. Chase promises reimbursement within 5 business days of receipt and validation of all required documents.
