British Airways Visa Bonus
Unlike standard welcome bonuses that can offer you points, miles or cash back, the British Airways Visa Signature card offers you rewards in the form of Avios.
There are many ways to go about this. Down below are several options to acquiring Avios.
• Plastiq - Using Plastiq allows you to pay for your personal expenses such as rent, tuition, mortgage, auto lease etc. Although they charge a 2.5% processing fee for using your credit card, this will contribute to the card bonus that you will receive. There is also a referral program that allows you to earn "Free-Free Dollars" that goes towards processing fees as well.
• Funding Checking Accounts - When it comes to funding a checking account, opening your initial deposit with a credit card is the usual way to go about it. However, if you want to have more opportunities, you should open a checking account that offers a sign-up bonus. This allows you to work towards bonuses from not one but two different sources instead. Banks like Chase, Huntington Bank, TD Bank and BBVA offers credit card funding, and for your opening deposit, you can often fund anywhere from $50-$1000 with a credit card, depending on what bank offers it.
• Gift Card Purchases With Using a Credit Card - Another way to acquire the bonus is using your credit card to purchase gift cards. Buying a a gift card or an individual merchant card typically do not require a purchase fee and are used towards leisure, so gift cards are ideal. However, gift cards such as a Visa or American Express do incur purchase fees because they can be spent anywhere, but gift cards that are specifically for a certain online shopping site such as Amazon or eBay don't.
As for a Citi Credit Card, you should call customer service and ask them to lower your Cash Advance limit to $0 before making any purchases because Citi tends to read gift card purchases as a Cash Advance.
Ideally, you should do this with any card just to be safe. Lastly, there is such thing as a discounted gift card which can be purchased on Raise or eBay. If you use a credit card often for everyday purchases, it can build your credit score that will contribute towards paying for things such as bills and taxes.

You can earn a Travel Together Ticket when you hit at least $30,000 in purchases on your card in a calendar year. This feature covers the fare flight of your guest (excluding fees or carrier charges) if you are both boarding the same flight and cabin.
This feature also applies to all classes–first, economy or business–and even including international flights. Your booked flight has to be a reward on British Airways mainline flight to and from the United States.
The British Airways Visa Signature Card has a no foreign transaction fees benefit when you make purchases abroad! This is convenient towards those who always have to travel outside the country for business trips.
Every time you use your British Airways Visa Signature® Card on a British Airways, Iberia Airlines, or OpenSkies purchase, you’ll earn 3 Avios per $1 spent.
You can use your Avios toward British Airways flights or on flights with its Oneworld partners; these partners include Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, AirBerlin, Finnair, Japan Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, and more.
In addition, you’ll earn 1 Avios per $1 spent on all other purchases.
If you don’t collect, spend, share, or purchase at least one Avios every three years, your Avios will expire. Make sure to use your points before then.
You can redeem your Avios for hotels stays, car rentals, and trip experiences. Because British Airways is a part of the Oneworld Airline alliance, you can use Avios to book flights on any of their partner airlines.
This gives you the opportunity to travel to hundreds of destinations around the world on many different airlines, both domestically and internationally, using your Avios.
In addition, the program uses a distance-based award chart, rather than a traditional region-based chart. To get the most out of your Avios when you’re redeeming them for flights, stick with a single flight carrier and take the most direct route.
British Airways Visa Signature Cardholder Benefits
The British Airways Visa Signature® Card comes with standard travel and purchase protection most travel rewards cards have to offer. Some other notable benefits it includes are:
Pay with Avios & Cash: If you’ve earned $10 worth of Avios, you won’t get an airline ticket, but you can get a $10 discount on whatever ticket you’re purchasing. Being able to redeem your rewards, even if you haven’t earned that many, is valuable if you’re frugal. Other rewards programs that are more all-or-nothing don’t offer that same flexibility.
Travel Together Ticket: If you make more than $30,000 in purchases in a calendar year, you can earn one Travel Together ticket, allowing you to bring a companion for free on a flight purchased with Avios.
You’ll still have to pay taxes and other fees on the companion ticket, and you’ll have to redeem the ticket within two years of it being issued. If you’re already spending thousands annually, this is a good perk to have.
No Foreign Transaction Fee: If you’re traveling internationally with your British Airways Visa Signature® Card, great! You won’t have to pay any foreign transaction fees for purchases made outside the United States. This will save you a lot if you’re a frequent traveler.
The British Airways Visa Signature® Card comes with an excellent bonus. For those who travel and spend frequently, this card is a good fit and well worth its $95 annual fee. There is no foreign transaction fee with this card, plus great deals on more than a dozen airlines around the world with the Oneworld alliance.
If you spend more than $30,000 on card in a year, you’ll be eligible to earn a Travel Together Ticket, which allows you to bring a companion for free on your next Avios-purchased flight.
